As the lead actress progresses through her 12 dates, she grows as a person and realizes that life is not all about HER and her wants and desires. There is something of far greater importance in life and that has to do with focusing on and helping others. And in the end, if we take the focus off of ourselves and put it on meeting the cares and concerns of others, we will usually find the true happiness we seek. This movie does a great job getting to this place and telling the story in a funny and engaging way, with romance and genuine emotion. It's worth watching anytime, not just at Christmas! I really enjoyed it. Yeah, it was yet another version of "Groundhog Day" but it had its own story to tell too. Clearly someone involved in the writing/direction/production process has done blind dates and redemption. Worth the purchase.

I am excited it is finally available for purchase. This movie is an enjoyable Christmas ripoff of Groundhog Day. The main character wakes up over and over again in the same situation, which she is ultimately put in so that she can get her priorities straight. It is a funny, well-acted movie. Edit Storyline Christmas time at the Kentucky home of George and Denise Barnett, the decorations are up and the kids are smiling, but all is not well. George is worried about his friend Don Ford while choir director Denise is fretting over the Christmas Eve concert at their church. Meanwhile, George's brother Allen is working as a studio guitarist in Los Angeles. Allen has promised to come back to Kentucky for months - a promise that has been left unfulfilled. George learns that Don Ford is worried about his daughter Celia, a struggling actress in Hollywood - and George formulates a plan. Allen drives home and brings Celia with him. Turns out that's easier said than done. But just when George and Denise think they have everything in order, Denise's parents decide to pay a visit for the holidays. George finds out that Don Ford doesn't appreciate him meddling and the church choir loses its soloist for the concert. Celia, a fine singer, may be the answer to the choir soloist problem but conflicts arise...
Saw it for the first time last year on another platform. Even looked for it on DVD. So the movie... Young girl slips and falls in a department store on Christmas Eve. She experiences her day. Then at midnight each night for 12 nights she repeats Christmas Eve. She kinda wises up after the initial confusion and starts finding out more things about the people she encounters each day so that on the repeat she can help them with this or that. But the over all idea here is that she learns more about herself so that she can be happy too. It is a movie where everyone gets paired off/happy by the end. The girl and guy get together. The girl and guy's friends get together. The girl and guy make up with their parents. The girl and guy's older single friends get together. Etc. There are lots of twists and turns in the plot. We were looking for a RomCom Christmas movie that we hadn't seen before, and this one looked interesting. I did not know anything about the storyline, so at first I was annoyed that the lead woman kept getting hit on the head and reliving the same day. I couldn't tell where it was going at first, but then I "got it" and the movie was a blast!! A mix of "Groundhog Day" and the "Twelve Days of Christmas" song. I have been recommending it to friends. The acting is terrific -- Amy Smart is perfect in the lead role. I love Hallmark Christmas movies, but, let's be honest: the plotlines are all the same and very predictable... and somewhat cheesy. "The Twelve Dates of Christmas" is so much better, more clever, and with great acting. It is now among my "Christmas Classics" to watch!
